AI and the Future of Business

Darden Ideas to Action Leader Series
UVA Darden DC Metro in Rosslyn, Virginia

Upcoming Dates: 30 April 2020
Complimentary event, includes breakfast, lunch and reception

For business leaders, artificial intelligence is a high-visibility topic, both in the popular press and in business media. New York Times headlines such as We Teach AI Systems Everything, Including Our Biases aim to grab our imagination, while experts like McKinsey tug at our corporate wallets by reminding us that, when it comes to artificial intelligence, The time to act is now. While it is tempting to chalk this all up to hype, or to fake news which AI may be helping to create, there are real opportunities and risks that business leaders need to understand and act on. Doing so will require new interpretations of what is right and wrong and updated approaches to management and leadership, both adapted for a world where intelligence comes in more forms and from more sources than ever before.

AI and the Future of Business brings together the diverse perspectives of Darden thought leaders on the topic of artificial intelligence in the domain of business. With an emphasis on ethics and leadership, this event explores the impact of AI on core business functions, the ethical considerations that come with increasing adoption of AI and how leaders need to guide their teams and organizations into an AI-intensive future.
